Ten migrants suffered injuries Saturday afternoon in falls from an area of the border wall above Border Field State Park.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department declared the situation a “mass casualty” incident after Border Patrol agents sought help for the injured around 4 p.m.
Six ambulances transported the victims, some of them with broken bones, to local hospitals. In some cases, uninjured children accompanied parents in the ambulances.
Border Patrol agents had several men in custody who climbed the wall, but were not injured, according to OnScene.TV. Most of the migrants were from South America.
Along with the ambulances, two SDFRD fire engines and one truck company responded to the scene.
