OnStage Playhouse, the only award-winning live theater in the South Bay, has announced its 40th season lineup, with two San Diego premieres and two world premieres.
The two San Diego premieres are The Harvest by Samuel D. Hunter, running March 22-April 14, and Gloria by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, running July 12-Aug. 4.
The two world premieres, according to OnStage, located in Chula Vista, represent the theater’s “commitment to fostering local voices in the theater community.” They are Devil in a Box, running May 17-June 9, by Tori Rice and Masa by Salomón Maya, running from Oct. 4-27.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our 40th season with such an exciting lineup of productions,” said James P. Darvas, the theater’s executive artistic director. “… We have chosen the lineup carefully to represent the community in which we live, promising theater that will forever spark conversation.”
He also thanked “our generous donors and theater-goers” for their support in 2023, so live theater could continue in the South Bay.
For the first time, ticket packages for all four shows are available at a discounted rate. For more information, including special events, visit onstageplayhouse.org.
