The Air Force Band of the Golden West’s brass quintet, Travis Brass, will perform free concerts in San Diego in the coming week.
The shows, by an ensemble made up of two trumpets, and a horn, trombone and tuba, are set to include classical and contemporary music and patriotic favorites. They are set for:
- Thursday – 7 p.m., San Diego State University, Smith Recital Hall
- Saturday – 2 p.m. Veterans Museum, Balboa Park

The brass quintet performs at community recitals, schools, sporting events and military ceremonies. Members also have provided music at a range of high-profile events, from memorial services aboard the USS Midway to national anthems at NFL and NBA games.
Other upcoming performances include Las Vegas, Camarillo and Santa Barbara.
The Air Force Band of the Golden West is stationed in the Bay Area at Travis Air Force Base. The only active duty Air Force band west of the Rockies, the Band of the Golden West is comprised of about 60 talented and versatile airmen-musicians under the command of Lt. Col. Cristina Moore Urrutia.
