San Diego officials and community members broke ground last week on a new park in Spring Valley.
Calavo County Park, located off Calavo Drive near Jamacha Boulevard, will include an all-wheel skatepark, two playgrounds, nature play apparatus, basketball and pickleball courts, as well as fields for soccer and baseball. Additionally, an off-leash dog park will be available providing ample space for pets.
County officials estimate the new 9-acre park will have 200 trees and 6,000 shrubs for shade. The greenery will be drought-tolerant to align with county sustainability goals.
A grand opening is expected in fall 2025.
