The son of prominent local Republican Tony Krvaric, who was arrested in September, reportedly made violent threats against vulnerable groups and possessed illegal firearms and explosives, according to court documents filed earlier this month.
24-year-old Victor Krvaric, whose father was a San Diego County Republican Party chair for nearly fifteen years, threatened vulnerable groups, including LGBTQ+ people, according to a gun violence restraining order filed by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Victor Krvaric allegedly “made threats of violence through social media towards LGBTQ & other races, was in possession of illegal firearms & previously had possession of explosives,” according to the Gun Violence Emergency Protective Order filed Oct. 1 in downtown civil court. He pleaded not guilty in September to a felony count of possessing an illegal assault weapon.
His father, Tony Krvaric, served as the chair of the San Diego County Republican Party for 14 years between 2007 and 2021. Tony Krvaric is listed as the owner of the home in Scripps Ranch where the search warrant and protective order were served.
Local television news station CBS 8 asked Victor Krvaric’s attorney, Gary Gibson, for comment.
“Why is this news for you, other than his dad used to be a prominent Republican figure?” Gibson said.
“I look forward to your stories on the children of prominent Democratic figures in town. I’ve done a lot of assault rifle and GVRO cases, you never ran those stories, why does this one get your attention? Broadcast whatever biased, unverified hit piece you want.”
Gibson did not appear to name any children of prominent Democratic figures locally who have been accused of threatening vulnerable groups.
In 2022, a probe by the U.S. military found that Victor Krvaric, a Marine, had engaged in misconduct. The Marines had investigated whether Krvaric, who was at that point a 21-year-old reservist, had tried to join the neo-Nazi group Patriot Front.
These charges come on the heels of years of scandals for the Krvaric family, including the discovery that another son of Tony Krvaric’s, Oliver Krvaric, had attended the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection at the United States Capitol, and the resurfacing of a video that Tony Krvaric made years before, featuring swastikas and images of Adolf Hitler.
