An abandoned single-story building caught fire in Lincoln Park Saturday, with no injuries or evacuations reported.
Crews were dispatched around 8:40 a.m. to a building where heavy smoke had been spotted on Imperial Avenue west of Euclid Avenue, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
“They quickly put the fire out and prevented it from spreading to the entire structure,” the department reported.
Officials said that the fire started in a back bedroom. No one was injured, and no one was inside when crews arrived.
The cause was unknown, but the flames cause an estimated $150,000 in damages, the department said.
A total of 33 personnel were assigned to the fire, including one truck, five engines and one medic. National City firefighters assisted SDFD.
OnScene.TV reported that the damaged structure was in a grouping of three homes used by squatters where fires have repeatedly broken out.
