The emerging field of artificial intelligence can be confusing and fraught, but a new degree program at North County’s MiraCosta College aims to demystify the topic.
The Associate in Science degree in Artificial Intelligence, which launches this year, will be the first program of its kind in California.
“This course demystifies how AI functions and why it’s capable of generating responses, providing students with a solid foundation in one of the most transformative and groundbreaking technological fields in human history,” said AI Concepts professor Rick White in a release.
The launch of the AI degree program follows approval from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, with additional courses (Artificial Intelligence Application and Artificial Intelligence Strategies and Solutions) to be introduced in 2025.
The announcement comes as MiraCosta College celebrates its 90th year in the region.
