The La Jolla Music Society‘s 56th Winter Season includes stars as well as talents on the rise, not only in classical music, but also opera, dance and world music.
New acts set to appear during the 2024–25 season, which continues from Oct. 6 to June 15, include pianist Yunchan Lim, Ballet Folklórico de México, Aída Cuevas, Les Arts Florissants, Cameron Carpenter, Nobuyuki Tsujii, Lucas Debargue and Barbara Hannigan.
There are many returning favorites too: Emanuel Ax, Chris Botti, Joyce DiDonato, Zakir Hussain and Wynton Marsalis among them.
And two dance giants, the companies founded by Martha Graham and Twyla Tharp, will appear on tour for their 100-year and 60-year anniversaries, respectively.
Series subscriptions already are available, but single tickets go on sale Monday, along with the option to create individual packages of shows.
Music society President and CEO Todd Schultz credited Artistic Director Leah Rosenthal with the ability to increase “the breadth and diversity of our programming.”
“Her expertise in attracting great artists, as well as identifying young artists on the cusp of major careers, has led to planning another terrific Winter Season that will attract both longtime LJMS patrons and those discovering us and the Conrad for the first time,” Schultz said.
The season features 67 performances, the majority of which will be held at the Conrad, in either the Baker-Baum Concert Hall or the JAI. Seven shows are planned for the Balboa Theatre, with one each at the Civic Theatre, St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church and the newly renovated downtown Jacobs Music Center.
The season is split into several series, which focus on various aspects of the arts, including piano, recitals, dance, chamber music, global roots and more.
Subscriptions range from $94 to $475. Compose-Your-Own discounted packages of any three or more concerts are also available. Single tickets range from $28 to $165.
